Aerodynamic Performance

And a nearly flat bottom is achieved by positioning the stamped steel frame rails above and inside the sedan's body. Driving comfort is assured with the multifunction tilt and telescopic steering. The paddle shift reduces unnecessary gear shift-up in cornering and supplies acceleration immediately after making a turn without the driver having to lift a finger from the steering wheel. For driving information, the easy-to-read instrument panel is set to assist you and reduces your fatigue on the road. The audio system is situated on the interface dial and reads MP3 and WMA files or a CD-R and displays the track information on the screen. The centre panel also consists of a premium Dual-zone Automatic Climate Control System that is within reach for you and your passengers.

Interior Dimension

The floor is now lower and the wheelbase is longer to provide more space. Tandem space has been increased by 25mm; while the knee space is increased by 35mm. The distance between front occupants has been widened by 40mm to secure an ample front view for rear passengers. And a 15 mm reduction in floor height is achieved through an optimized exhaust system layout, a thinner floor frame and slender fuel tank.

Advanced Airbags System

The all-new Accord is geared with all the safety considerations. The 3.5 V6 is equipped with i-SRS front driver and passenger airbags, side airbags with OPDS and side curtain airbags. While the 2.4 VTi-L is equipped with i-SRS front driver and passenger airbags and side airbags with OPDS. And the 2.0VTi is equipped with i-SRS front driver and passenger airbags.

VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist)

Vehicle Stability Assist controls sudden changes in vehicle behaviour, keeping the driver in control. When driving in unexpected situations, or tight cornering, the system stabilises the vehicle, reducing counter-productive driver tension. VSA comes as standard in the 2.4 VTi-L & 3.5 V6.

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) provides lateral skidding prevention and stabilized cornering.

Active Headrest

Front active headrests help mitigate neck shock in a rear-end collision. A link mechanism in the seatback moves the headrest forward and upward to support the passenger's head.
Pretensioner Seat Belt

Front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioning system ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.

The new VCM increases high power performance and enhances fuel economy by partially halting the action of some cylinders through freely controlled engine displacement based on the driving pattern.

Noise, Vibration and Harshness

Integral to the VCM, comprehensive Noise, Vibration and Harshness systems dampen the roar of the engine, as the engine switches between three, four to six cylinder operations. Special rubber floating mounts, acoustic roof lining, and hood insulators work together to minimise the intrusion of sound into the cabin for a quieter driving experience.

ACM (Active Control Engine Mount System)

Active control engine mounting cancels out annoying engine vibration.
ANC (Active Noise Control)

Cancels out booming noise by emitting a sound wave with the same amplitude and opposite polarity to the original sound from the audio sound system.
DBW (Drive-By-Wire)

DBW technology allows for smoother shifting via an electronic throttle control. The linkage to the intelligent Grade Logic Control enhances drive and reduces gear hunting.

The Hybrid Dual Scroll Air Conditioning Compressor

The Honda Civic Hybrid uses a dual scroll air-conditioning system. It reduces the load on the engine by using a combination of engine power and electric motor to drive two air-conditioning systems.

On normal days, the engine-driven compressor acts as the sole source of air-conditioning and the motor-driven acts when the car is idle-stopped.

On hot days, both compressors will provide maximum cooling by using the petrol engine and the electric motor. But, the Honda Civic Hybrid’s idle-stop feature will be temporarily disabled.

The 3-Stage i-VTEC + IMA

This is achieved through an electric motor installed between the engine and the transmission. It engages as you accelerate or go uphill, boosting engine power until you reach cruising speed. The motor then adds necessary additional power to accelerate. However, at low speed cruise, the car runs on power from the motor alone. As you raise the acceleration, the engine switches to a higher power output and the motor provides a stronger, powerful acceleration.

When it decelerates, the IMA battery will be in recharge mode.

Meanwhile, all the electric power created by the electric motor will be stored in a compact battery box that is called the Intelligent Power Unit. It controls the electricity to and from the electric motor.

The 3-Stage i-VTEC + IMA

How is the 4th Generation IMA any different than the previous ones?

The newly developed IMA works hand in hand with the 1.3 i-VTEC engine to output more power, better fuel- efficiency, and lower emissions without even compromising the performance.

An Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) stores electric power in a compact battery box and controls the flow of electricity to and from the electric motor.

The Honda Civic Hybrid provides Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags and front side airbags to prevent head and torso injury.
