The 2008 Civic GX sports a Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system and 113-hp, 16-valve, i-VTEC® engine. This clean natural-gas-fueled machine also features the latest, next-generation i-VTEC technology, giving you more power than you'd expect from a smaller engine.

The sedan comes with three types of engines: the 2.0 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine, 2.4 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine and the 3.5 litre V6 i-VTEC VCM engine. *Combined with the VCM Technology, a system that activates and deactivates the engine's cylinders, it meets the demand of both acceleration and fuel savings faithfully.

2.4 VTi-L

Max. Power: 180PS (133kW) @ 6,500rpm Max. Torque: 222Nm (22.6kg-m) @ 4,300rpm Accord 2.4 VTi-L feature a refined 4-cylinder 2.4 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine, producing an impressive 180PS of power and 222Nm of torque, whilst maintaining low emissions and enviable fuel economy.

2.0 VTi

Max. Power: 156PS (115kW) @ 6,300rpm Max. Torque: 189Nm (19.3kg-m) @ 4,300rpm The Accord's 2.0 litre engine employs i-VTEC technology, delivering outstanding performance at the exact moment you need it. It produces an impressive 156PS of power and 189 Nm of torque, whilst maintaining low emissions and enviable fuel economy.

Paddle Shift

Shift Hold Control

Reduces unnecessary gear shift-up in cornering and supplies acceleration immediately after making a turn. The paddle shift system allows the driver to change gears manually without removing hands from the steering wheel.

VGR (Variable Gear Ratio
Steering System)

The VGR steering system responds faithfully to the driver's intention. It gives precise and good responsive steering manoeuvrability in sharp cornering, parking spaces and when changing lanes at high speeds.

Suspension

The improved double wishbone front suspension stabilises braking and steering response. While the new compact in-wheel Multi-link Rear Suspension reduces road noise, vibration and harshness with a 40% increase in rigidity.

Aerodynamic Performance

The look of the new Accord pleases the eye as well as providing greater aerodynamic efficiency. And a nearly flat bottom is achieved by positioning the stamped steel frame rails above and inside the sedan's body. This improves fuel mileage and reduces interior noise from undercarriage air turbulence.

Elegant, comfortable and highly advanced. These are the key essence of the sedan's interior design. From its sophisticated décor to the rich leather seats, you can rest assured that it accommodates your taste. The centre instrument panel is also designed for better visibility and operability while the audio and climate control flow seamlessly from both sides of the door lines.

Driving comfort is assured with the multifunction tilt and telescopic steering. The paddle shift reduces unnecessary gear shift-up in cornering and supplies acceleration immediately after making a turn without the driver having to lift a finger from the steering wheel. For driving information, the easy-to-read instrument panel is set to assist you and reduces your fatigue on the road. The audio system is situated on the interface dial and reads MP3 and WMA files or a CD-R and displays the track information on the screen. The centre panel also consists of a premium Dual-zone Automatic Climate Control System that is within reach for you and your passengers.

Interior Dimension

The floor is now lower and the wheelbase is longer to provide more space. Tandem space has been increased by 25mm; while the knee space is increased by 35mm. The distance between front occupants has been widened by 40mm to secure an ample front view for rear passengers. And a 15 mm reduction in floor height is achieved through an optimized exhaust system layout, a thinner floor frame and slender fuel tank.

The all-new Accord is geared with all the safety considerations. The 3.5 V6 is equipped with i-SRS front driver and passenger airbags, side airbags with OPDS and side curtain airbags. While the 2.4 VTi-L is equipped with i-SRS front driver and passenger airbags and side airbags with OPDS. And the 2.0VTi is equipped with i-SRS front driver and passenger airbags.



VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist)

Vehicle Stability Assist controls sudden changes in vehicle behaviour, keeping the driver in control. When driving in unexpected situations, or tight cornering, the system stabilises the vehicle, reducing counter-productive driver tension. VSA comes as standard in the 2.4 VTi-L & 3.5 V6.



Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) provides lateral skidding prevention and stabilized cornering.

  Front active headrests help mitigate neck shock in a rear-end collision. A link mechanism in the seatback moves the headrest forward and upward to support the passenger's head.

  The new VCM increases high power performance and enhances fuel economy by partially halting the action of some cylinders through freely controlled engine displacement based on the driving pattern.

Noise, Vibration and Harshness

Integral to the VCM, comprehensive Noise, Vibration and Harshness systems dampen the roar of the engine, as the engine switches between three, four to six cylinder operations. Special rubber floating mounts, acoustic roof lining, and hood insulators work together to minimise the intrusion of sound into the cabin for a quieter driving experience.

  Active control engine mounting cancels out annoying engine vibration.
